10 inspection violations at Ambler’s Golden House Chinese Restaurant; Mice-like droppings observed on floor under 3-compartment sink, Blue plastic bags being washed and reused to store food products

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/4/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Golden House Chinese Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 10 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Hand sink in kitchen blocked by a table placed in front of it. Cloths observed covering faucet. Items were removed.

  • Raw fish observed placed above cooked chicken in 1-door reach-in refrigerator at cook’s line. Employee indicated that fish was for personal consumption. Item removed.

  • Prepared TCS foods held in facility for more than 24 hours lacking discard date markings. Items such as eggrolls, fired chicken, ribs, etc. stored in walk-in refrigerator. Date marking labels should indicate the date by which the food shall be consumed on the premises, sold or discarded; date not to exceed 7 days.

  • Mice-like droppings observed on floor under 3-compartment sink. Clean and sanitize all affected areas and have licensed pest control service. Send pest control report to MCOPH within 10 business days, email provided. Pest control report must state treatment and target pest.

  • Containers of egg rolls observed uncovered in walk-in and reach-in refrigerators.

  • Several trays of chicken not fully protected inside reach-in freezer, partially covered with blue plastic bags.

  • Blue plastic bags being washed and reused to store food products. Facility voluntarily discarded blue bags drying above 3-compartment sink.

  • Fried chicken wings observed stored in a cardboard box lid. Facility voluntarily discarded chicken wings.

  • White substance accumulation observed on fanguards inside walk-in refrigerator.

  • Cardboard material lining floor outside walk-in refrigerator. Removed.
