11 violations for Breezy’s Pizza in Aliquippa; wiping cloths in extremely unclean condition, bucket of road salt under the sheeter in the kitchen

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 5/28/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Breezy’s Pizza was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Commercially processed sliced deli meat and cheese in the small Igloo cooler, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food, and held more than 24 hours are not being marked with the date it was opened. Reviewed requirements. Corrected.
  • Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration.
  • Observed a bucket of road salt under the sheeter in the kitchen area. Remove from the kitchen today.
  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Build up of old debris on the outside of the plastic squeeze bottles of oils. Debris inside the hand wash sink. Old debris on the wooden shelves by the rear prep cooler.
  • Dust build up on the kitchen hood and duct work.
  • Floor tiles are missing/damaged at several locations in the kitchen area. Floors and walls throughout the kitchen area are uneven and in poor condition.
  • Metal shelves in the walk in cooler are rusty.
  • Old food debris on the counter top slicer. Slicer used yesterday according to the PIC.
  • Food facility does not employ a certified food employee as required. No FEC. Repeat Violation.
  • Observed several wiping cloths in extremely unclean condition on the rear prep cooler.
  • Numerous empty containers on the floor in the middle kitchen area. Clean and maintain.
