13 violations, “Mouse like droppings observed,” Nudy’s Cafe in Ardmore doesn’t make the grade when Montco Health stops by

Nudy’s Café in Ardmore

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 26, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Nudy’s Café in Ardmore was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 13 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Hand wash sink blocked at cook line by a table.
  • Raw shelled eggs stored on counter at griddle area lacking time marking or proper cooling. Facility voluntarily discarded one flat of eggs.
  • Asterisk lacking next to consumer advisory and corresponding food items on menus.
  • Bulk dry goods and oils stored in secondary container lacking labels.
  • Mouse like droppings observed on the floor behind cooking equipment. Clean and sanitize area. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH
  • Scoops lacking handles stored in bulk dry goods and egg batter at cook line.
  • Food items stored at 3 compartment ware wash sink.
  • Sinks throughout facility not properly sealed to the wall.
  • Foil and cloth lining pole/rack over flat top griddle.
  • Raw wood support underneath crate in walk-in cooler.
  • Shelf under flattop griddle unclean.
  • Lacking proper air gap at 2 bay food prep sink.
  • Trash dumpster lids open.
  • Ceiling tile not in place over prep unit at cook line.
