15 inspection violations for Golden Great Wall in Ambler, Mold-like growth observed inside ice maker, Health Department threatens legal action

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 13, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Great Golden Wall in Ambler was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 12 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility observed posting expired MCOPH food establishment license. Post current license or apply for duplicate.

  • Hand washing sinks in kitchen obstructed by hoses and metal containers. Hand washing sinks must be unobstructed at all times. Hand washing sinks are to be used for hand washing only.

  • Facility lacking means of drying hands at hand washing sinks in kitchen. Facility provided sinks with paper towels during inspection.

  • (4 times repeat violation) Raw chicken observed being stored above tofu in walk-in refrigerator. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to legal action.

  • (2 times repeat violation) Can opener blade observed unclean with food-like accumulation. Facility cleaned and sanitized can opener during inspection. Failure to maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to legal action.

  • Mold-like growth observed inside ice maker. Clean and sanitize in accordance with owner’s manual.

  • Garlic in oil solution observed being held at room temperature at cook’s line. Items had been out for 4hrs at time of inspection. Facility voluntarily discarded solution during inspection. EHS instructed facility on the establishment of a time as a public health control log for this item.

  • Facility observed storing packages/containers of food on floor throughout facility. Elevate all foods to a minimum of 6 inches from floor.

  • Ice scoop stored in ice machine.

  • Facility observed lining multiple surfaces with cardboard. Facility removed cardboard during inspection.

  • (3 times repeat violation) Rust and paint chipping on fan guards in walk-in refrigerator. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to legal action.

  • Unsealed raw wood panel observed at mop sink. Seal with a minimum of semi-gloss paint.
