15 violations for Juice Pod in Ambler; Frozen dessert product store on tray on floor to defrost

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/30/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Juice Pod was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of XX violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility lacking sign stating “The most recent health inspection report is available on request”. Sign must be posted conspicuously for the public. EHS supplied one.

  • Facility Food Establishment License not posted conspicuously for the public. Apply for duplicate license if necessary.

  • Facility lacking a Certified Food Sanitation Manager. Facility permitted 6 months to attain at the time of opening inspection. Date has not past yet. Facility should apply promptly.

  • Facility lacking a written policy / procedure addressing the clean-up of a vomit or diarrheal event. EHS supplied a sample policy.

  • Front hand sink with containers and utensils in basin.

  • Facility not washing rinsing and sanitizing wares; no sanitizer basin prepared.

  • Foods with internal temperature of 50 F in food prep refrig. Contents nearly entirely fresh fruits. Facility voluntarily discarded all TCS foods, one open one gallon jug of peaches. Facility must immediately stop using the unit to store TCS foods. Facility may not use the unit to store TCS foods until serviced by licensed professional, AND unit is operating at 41F or below, AND written permission is granted by MCOPH. Fax service report to 215-784-5524 or to the email provided. Failure to comply or await permission before using unit may lead to legal action.

  • First aid and chemicals stored over dry storage in rear closet.

  • Frozen dessert product store on tray on floor to defrost. must be defrost or slacking in freezer / refrig and stored 6 inches off the floor at all times.

  • All employees lacking effective hair restraint.

  • Wiping cloths not stored in sanitizer solution.

  • Using sponge on dishes without subsequent sanitizing of wares.

  • Single use cup used as scoop in ice machine, left in product and lacks a handle.

  • Chest freezer with ice and spill accumulation.

  • Facility lacking test strips for quat sanitizer on hand.
