The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 22, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Lucky Hibachi Grill and Buffet restaurant in Montgomeryville was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 15 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Personal use beverage lacking lid and straw in sushi prep area.

  • Facility with expired parasite destruction letter. COS – facility able to provide approved letter during time of inspection.

  • (2 x repeat) Raw beef stored above ready to eat food items at walk in cooler.

  • Facility storing bulk bag of salt in open original container at back storage area. COS – facility relocated into secured secondary container.

  • (2 x repeat) Debris accumulation observed on piercing parts of table-top can opener. COS – facility cleaned and sanitized unit during time of inspection.

  • Facility lacking time log for sushi items stored outside of temperature control at self service line adjacent to sushi prep. COS – facility instructed on approved use and documentation for time logs during time of inspection.

  • Facility storing bucket of roof cement mix at dry goods shelving with food items at back storage area.

  • Facility storing bucket of roof cement mix at dry goods shelving with food items at back storage area.

  • Facility lacking labeling for cooking oils and sauces stored in secondary containers / plastic bottles at hibachi.

  • Raw shrimp stored mixed with water chestnuts at hibachi food prep cooler top. Facility voluntarily discarded one quarter pan of shrimp/water chestnut mix.

  • Facility storing hats from shelving for dry storage goods and bulk storage containers outside of back employee restroom.

  • Tongs observed hanging from cart along cooks line. Facility instructed on approved storage of utensils during time of inspection.

  • Severely dented can observed in two door glass reach in cooler at prep area. COS – facility voluntarily removed from service and stated unit would be returned to provider.

  • Facility wrapping space between doors at two door reach in cooler along cooks line in packing tape.

  • Food debris / accumulation observed at interior of microwave at sushi prep station.
