16 violations at Cracker Barrel in Plymouth Meeting; 16 violations, Fly-like insects observed throughout facility

The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/25/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Cracker Barrel in Plymouth Meeting was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 16 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Lacking single service towels for hand sink in warewashing area.

  • Hand washing sign lacking at hand sink in employee restroom.

  • Splash guard of ice machine unclean. Clean and sanitize according to owner’s manual.

  • Facility lacking visible accurate thermometers in several cold units.

  • Unapproved insect control devices observed in kitchen/food prep area.

  • Light and air space at side of rear door.

  • Fly-like insects observed throughout facility. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH. Email documentation to jcoyle@montcopa.org.

  • Flour observed in open original bag.

  • Door in walk-in freezer not closing properly.

  • Ice build-up on interior surfaces in walk-in freezer.

  • Racks in walk-in cooler unclean.

  • Back splash at ware washing station unclean.

  • Hot water under pressure not available at hand sink in ware washing area. Facility must remedy within 24 hours.

  • Floor unclean under cooks line equipment.

  • Dust build-up on ceiling and walls.

  • Hood filters unclean above cooks line equipment.
