17 violations at Gino’s Ristorante in Norristown area; Mouse like droppings observed below front counter underneath soda dispensing boxes

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/4/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Gino’s Ristorante was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 17 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility has expired MCOPH food establishment license(expired 2/28/20). Facility has 48 hours to submit invoice for license renewal along with fee to MCOPH. License renewal invoice was left at time of inspection
  • Interior back of ice bin at waitress soda fountain unclean
  • Common name label lacking on squeeze bottles at cooks line and by pizza prep bain marie(2xR)
  • Mouse like droppings observed below front counter underneath soda dispensing boxes. Facility must fax over current pest control report to MCOPH within 10 business days. Facility must then clean and sanitize all affected areas.
  • Water bottle stored in public serving ice in waitress station ice bin at soda fountain
  • Food containers uncovered inside Hussman reach in freezer
  • Clam juice stored in open original aluminum can in bain marie at cooks line and can of olives stored in bain marie by walk in cooler in opened original aluminum can(R)
  • Food items stored on floor in walk in cooler and walk in freezer
  • Food handler lacking hair and bear restraints
  • Tongs stored on oven door handles at cooks line
  • Single service containers stored with food contact surfaces exposed along shelf at cooks line and shelf above prep unit by walk in units
  • Ice machine condenser cover off of unit
  • Food debris build up on blade of table-top can opener (Repeat violation)
  • Dust build up on fan guards in walk in cooler
  • Side of white reach in freezer at end of cooks line unclean with grease build up
  • Dust accumulating on ceiling tiles above cooks line (2 times repeat violation)
  • Dust build up on ceiling vent above dish machine
