The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/12/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the NAME was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 25 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Expired food license posted. Facility posted current license.

  • At time of inspection many employees in the facility observed without face coverings. All employees placed face coverings on during inspection. Facility must correct and maintain all noted violations. Failure to correct and maintain any and all violations may lead to legal action, citations, and/or closure.
  • Facility lacking CFSM certificate from MCOPH. ServSafe certificate posted. Facility is granted 10 business days to apply for CFSM. Application and fee schedule emailed to facility.

  • Facility is lacking a written vomit/fecal incident procedure at time of inspection. Sample document emailed to facility.

  • Employee beverages stored inside of ice machine.

  • (3 times repeat violation)Front counter area hand sink blocked by a tray and rag in basin. Middle kitchen hand sink blocked by a stack of boxes. Failure to correct and maintain repeat violations could lead to legal action.

  • At time of inspection facility turned off water supply to middle kitchen hand wash sink. Facility turned water back on and was instructed that hand sinks must be in proper working condition at all times.

  • No soap provided at middle and back kitchen hand wash sinks.

  • No paper towels provided at middle kitchen hand wash sink.

  • Facility could not locate tags for live clams in display refrigerator. Facility must store tags with products until all are sold/served.

  • Facility is not keeping shellfish tags on file for at least 90 days after date of last sale. No previous shellfish tags were available on site at time of inspection. Facility must also write date of last sale on tags before filing.

  • Raw fish over cooked and ready to eat foods in 2 door tall refrigerator.

  • Many food items in freezer and refrigeration units throughout facility observed uncovered.

  • Pink mold like accumulation on white interior shield of ice machine. Clean and sanitize.

  • Foods in steam table below hot holding temperature of 135F. Facility reheated to 165F during inspection.

  • GEM crab display refrigerator recorded with ambient temperature of 50F. Crabs in unit recorded at 46F. Facility moved crabs to a working unit. Facility must immediately stop using the unit. Facility may not use the unit until serviced by licensed professional, AND unit is operating at 41F or below, AND written permission is granted by MCOPH. Send service report to the email provided. Failure to comply or await permission before using unit may lead to legal action.

  • Dead rodent-like animal observed in basement. Facility must clean and sanitize area and have licensed pest control service. Facility to send pest control report to email provided within 10 business days. Pest control report must state treatment of target pest.

  • Foods stored on floor of both walk-in units in basement.

  • Food handlers lacking hair restraints.

  • Trays and cutting board stored behind 3 compartment sink faucet.

  • 4Boxes of single use items stored on floor of basement. Boxes of wooden chopsticks observed with water damage from ceiling leak. Facility voluntarily discarded contaminated chopsticks during inspection.

  • GEM crab display refrigerator observed dripping from condenser unit on inside of case with some food in unit being dripped on. Facility voluntarily discarded contaminated foods.

  • 3 door tall freezer observed leaking water onto floor. Unit still capable of holding proper temperature.

  • (2 times repeat violation)Facility using Quaternary based sanitizer but has chlorine test strips. Facility must purchase quat test strips and provide proof of purchase to email provided. Failure to comply may lead to legal action.

  • Basement ceiling observed leaking. Facility stated it is due to heavy rains and landlord has been contacted. Facility must send a work order stating ceiling has been repaired within one week to email provided.

  • Many ceiling tiles out of place/missing throughout basement areas.
