The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/25/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Mister P Pizza & Pasta was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 26 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Expired food license posted in facility. Locate current license and post in public view or request a duplicate copy from MCOPH.

  • Facility is lacking a written vomit/fecal incident procedure at time of inspection. Sample document emailed to facility.

  • Many employee beverages stored on food prep surfaces throughout kitchen areas.

  • Employee observed handling a ready to eat sandwich with their bare hands. Facility instructed on proper glove use on RTE foods during inspection.

  • Cook’s line area hand wash sink found obstructed by a trash can with heavy food debris in basin.

  • No soap provided at cook’s line area hand wash sink.

  • No paper towels provided at cook’s line area hand wash sink

  • Dented can of pizza sauce found on dry storage shelf. Facility moved to office area.

  • Raw shell eggs stored above ready to eat foods in cook’s line prep refrigerator.

  • Soiled knives stored in clean wall mounted knife holder. Facility removed for cleaning and sanitizing.

  • Garlic in oil mixture stored at room temperature at pizza station and cooks line with internal temperature of 79F. Facility voluntarily discarded during inspection.

  • Facility lacking proper date marking of prepared/opened ready to eat foods held under refrigeration in facility longer than 24 hours. Facility using prep dates when a discard date not to exceed 7 days from the prep/open date is required. Facility also leaving on old date markings on some food containers. Facility emailed date marking regulations during inspection.

  • Time temperature logs for pizzas are not being updated properly when a new pizza is made. Some pizzas found to be stored outside of temperature control longer than approved 4 hours. Facility voluntarily discarded about 6 pizzas during inspection.

  • Container of lemons observed stored inside soda machine ice bin where ice is used for customer beverages.

  • Employee observed using a cell phone while preparing customer foods and placing cell phone on prep table. Facility moved phone away from prep area.

  • At beginning of inspection facility turned off cold water supply to food prep sink. Cold water supply restored during inspection. Food prep sink must have cold water supply at all times.

  • (2 times repeat violation)Foods stored directly on floor of walk-in refrigerator and walk-in freezer. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.

  • Food handlers lacking hair restraints. Facility has previously been issued a citation for hair restraints. Facility may face possible legal action for non-compliance.

  • Wet wiping cloths not stored in sanitizer between uses.

  • (2 times repeat violation)Absorbent yellow sponge observed at 3 compartment sink. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.

  • Ice scoop stored in soda machine ice bin with handle in drink ice.

  • Tongs stored on oven handle.

  • Several scoops without handles found stored in foods in cook’s line prep refrigerator.

  • Bottom of cook’s line prep refrigerator lined with absorbent linens.

  • Ice accumulation observed on interior of walk-in freezer with ice observed dripping down for condenser unit.

  • No toilet paper provided in men’s restroom.
