2nd inspection fail this month; Golden City Chinese Restaurant in Colmar threatened with legal action by Health Department

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 18, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Golden City Chinese Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • (5 times repeat violation)Prepared and opened TCS ready to eat foods held under refrigeration in facility for longer than 24 hours missing required discard date marking not to exceed 7 days from the prep/open date. Date marking regulations were emailed at time of inspection. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal actions. Facility observed using prep dates only and added discard dates to items marked with prep dates.
  • (8 times repeat violation)Bottom of side exit door in kitchen leading to outside observed with a large gap and door sweep in disrepair. Facility repaired during inspection. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal actions. Citation possible.
  • (3 times repeat violation)Facility found to be storing many items for restaurant outside in back area (food containers, mops, mop bucket, large cooking pots, fish tanks). All items for restaurant must be stored inside to prevent contamination or properly discarded. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal actions. Citation possible.
  • Portable cutting boards in kitchen areas observed with heavy scratching and deep discolored grooves.
  • (2 times repeat violation) Exterior of food equipment throughout kitchen observed with food splatter and residue buildup. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to further legal action.
  • (6 times repeat violation) Excess stagnant water accumulation observed throughout kitchen area. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to further legal action. Citation possible.
  • (3 times repeat violation) Grease hood system filters not properly in place at time of inspection. The Hatfield Township Fire Marshal was contacted during previous inspection. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.
  • Water observed dripping down from facility grease hood system into black pans, with heavy fog/cold steam observed beneath hood. The Hatfield Township Fire Marshal was contacted during previous inspection.
