The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/5/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 33 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Current MCOPH license not posted at time of inspection Facility operating without a MCOPH license. Facility has 5 business days to submit license application and appropriate fee.

  • Facility lacking a current MCOPH CFSM. Facility has 10 business days to submit reciprocity application or submit proof of registration in an approved food safety course. Owner showed proof of ServeSafe certificate.

  • Raw chicken stored over cooked ham and raw shrimp in walk-in freezer.

  • Splash guard of ice machine unclean. Clean and sanitize according to owner’s manual.

  • Cutting board with deep grooves and heavy discoloration across from cooks line.

  • Food items in prep unit across from deep fryer measuring greater than 41F. Facility voluntarily discarded all items: sliced tomatoes; sliced cucumbers; green onions.

  • Date marking lacking on food containers throughout refrigeration units.

  • Chemical spray bottle stored amongst food and/or food contact items at cooks line and at multiple food prep areas.

  • Can of Hot Shot insecticide observed in facility. Facility voluntarily discarded.

  • Bottles of cleaning solution lacking labels at 3-bay ware washing sink.

  • Facility lacking a probe thermometer.

  • Common name label lacking on squeeze bottles at cooks line.

  • Common name label lacking on secondary containers throughout refrigeration units.

  • 3 times repeat violation: Back door propped at arrival. (allows access to vermin)

  • Light and airspace at bottom/side of rear door in kitchen. (allows access to vermin)

  • Fly-like insects observed in kitchen. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH.

  • Rodent-like droppings observed under 1-bay ware washing sink next to dish machine. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH.

  • Container of sugar stored on floor in dry goods area.

  • Power tools stored on shelves with food items.

  • Bag of potato starch stored in open original bag in dry storage room.

  • Food stored in colander in 3-door cooler.

  • Food item stored in non-food grade 5-gallon bucket in walk-in cooler.

  • Tongs stored on oven door handle along cooks line.

  • Knife stored on shelf in dry storage room. Vegetable peeler stored inside prep unit bin.

  • Peeling paint on bottom of 3-door cooler.

  • Cardboard shelf liner used on multiple shelves.

  • Shelves under cooks line equipment unclean.

  • Faucet of 3-bay ware washing sink continually dripping.

  • Unused equipment stored in back of dining room.

  • Several stained ceiling tiles in dining area.

  • Ceiling tile missing at end of cooks line.

  • Mop not stored hanging or inverted to dry.

  • Dust build-up on red decorative piece hanging from ceiling above counter stools in dining area.
