Abington McDonalds fouls inspection; Mold like accumulation in ice machine, Ware washing machine not supplying adequate amount of sanitizer, 15 violations

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/5/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the McDonald’s in Abington was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of X15 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Paper towels lacking at grill hand sinks.

  • Ware washing area hand sink lacking hot water. Both faucets run cold. Facility has additional hand sink with in 5 ft. Facility must use other hand sink until corrected. Facility has 24hrs to ensure hot and cold water of adequate temperature are supplied to hand sink. EHS will preform follow-up inspection.

  • Ware washing machine not supplying adequate amount of sanitizer during final rinse. Must be maintained between 50-100ppm. facility removed wrappers and utensils from drain. Drain now properly closing after wash, allowing rinse water and sanitizer to circulate. EHS observed unit operating at proper concentration.

  • Mold like accumulation on lower edge of white divider in ice machine. Cleaned and sanitized.

  • Door gasket torn and with accumulation on blender refrigerator and adjacent espresso machine refrigerator.

  • Rear kitchen hand sink not secured to wall, secure and caulk.

  • Walk-in freezer door handles loose.

  • Spill on top of frozen dessert machine and splashes around front area of machine and adjacent equipment.

  • Blender unit drain with standing water and accumulation above dispensing area.

  • Accumulation above mixer wand of shake blender on rear counter.

  • Accumulation on area above dispensing nozzle of OJ and milk dispenser.

  • Walk-in freezer floor with accumulation by door.

  • Men’s room toilet clogged at the time of arrival, corrected before end of inspection.

  • Grease spill just to right of oil reclaiming unit, from strainer not properly stored.

  • Wall tiles missing in back of kitchen area and ware washing area to the left of ware washing machine.
