The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/24/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Acme Market in Dresher was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 15 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Defective paper towel dispenser handle in chicken prep area.

  • 2 dented cans of evaporated milk observed in retail floor. Removed.

  • (Repeat violation) Chicken stored in display hot holding unit observed with internal temperature below 135F. Facility rapidly reheated all items to 165F during inspection.

  • Cheese and deli meats stored in display retail floor refrigerator observed with internal temperature above 41F (across from deli dept.). Manager voluntarily removed and discarded several packages of American cheese and deli meats.

  • Small display retail refrigerator observed with ambient temperature above 41F. Facility may not use until it can maintain food products at 41F or below and permission is given by MCOPH. Provide work order stating the ambient temperature, and send information to MCOPH, email provided.

  • (Repeat violation) Lacking ambient thermometer in chicken hot holding unit (display). Provided.

  • Lacking ambient thermometer in shrimp display freezer.

  • (4 times repeat violation) Cracked lid on the bulk chicken flour container in chicken prep area held together with clear tape. Provide proof of repair, email provided. Note: Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal actions.

  • Torn curtain strips at entrance to meat room.

  • Produce walk-in refrigerator door gasket observed torn.

  • Meat liners in retail display refrigerator observed with food residue.

  • Side walls of retail refrigerator storing ham products observed with a white substance buildup. Employee was informed to clean and sanitize area.

  • Exterior ice machine metal shield observed with a black substance accumulation. Cleaned and sanitized at time of inspection.

  • (Repeat violation) Hand sinks in deli areas observed draining slowly.

  • Wet mop stored in mop bucket.
