The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/6/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Dunkin’ Donuts on Hamilton was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Observed pre-fried donuts being stored on top an active trash can. Corrected.
  • The quaternary ammonia concentration in the sanitizing solution of the 3-bay ware wash sink was 0 ppm, rather than 200-400 ppm as stated on the manufacturers use directions. Corrected.
  • Interior of the hot chocolate dispensing machine, a non-food contact surface, not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil and food-debris; in need of cleaning.
  • Food employees observed in back kitchen donut making area, not wearing proper hair restraints, such as nets, hats, or beard covers.
  • Commercially processed refrigerated, ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food (such as sliced cheeses, sliced deli meats, and cooked eggs, located in the walk-in cooler and the sandwich bain marie, and held more than 24 hours, is not being marked with the date it was opened.
  • An insect control device (sticky fly papers) located throughout the active back kitchen prep area with potential to contaminate food, equipment, and / or utensils.
  • Ceiling vent covers and fan guards, piping and electrical area directly above proofing boxes, and floors under front counter donut case of the food facility are dirty, dusty, and in need of cleaning.
  • Non-food contact surface, the plastic divider at the three-bay sink at the dry-goods shelf, is cracked and chipping, and in need of proper repair.
  • Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible in the two under counter refrigerators located at the drive thru area.
  • Interior of the ice machine, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue, mold-like, and pink slime-like substance, and was not clean to sight and touch.
  • Trash receptacle not available at the back kitchen prep area hand wash sink.
