The Montgomery County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 1/27/21. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Apollo Pizza was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 15 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

Facility observed not posting MCOPH food establishment license publicly. Post publicly.

Facility observed not posting “Inspection reports available upon request” signage publicly. Post publicly.

(3 times repeat violation) Employee beverage containers stored on food prep surfaces. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may result in further legal action.

3 quarts of heavy cream observed in walk-in refrigerator with sell-by dates of 01/21/2021. Facility voluntarily discarded these items during inspection.

Container of mozzarella cheese observed uncovered in walk-in refrigerator.

One wrapped package of sliced ham observed date marked with a discard date of 01/25/2021. The Facility voluntarily discarded this item during inspection.

Icy Hot spray stored adjacent to clean utensils near pizza oven.

(2 times repeat violation) Rodent-like droppings observed in kitchen behind mixer and near rear door to facility. The Facility must clean and sanitize all affected areas. Facility must be treated by a professional pest control operator within 10 business days. E-mail completed pest control work order to MCOPH at e-mail address provided. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to legal action.

Some live and dead roach-like insects observed in the basement of the facility. Facility must clean and sanitize all affected areas. Containers of food stored on floor in walk-in refrigerator and walk-in freezer.

Knife stored in crevice between shelf and wall near pizza oven.

Facility observed lining rack at cook’s line with absorbent cloth.

Chest freezer lid observed damaged with exposed foam insulation, rendering side of lid to not be easily cleanable.

Dumpster lids open at time of inspection.

(2 times repeat violation) Mop not hung/inverted to dry following use. Failure to correct and maintain multiple repeat violations may lead to legal action.
