The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 30, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.

The Iron Hill Brewery and Restaurant has failed all but one inspection going back to November 2016*:

  • November 4, 2016- 3 violations
  • March 3, 2017- 3 violations
  • November 28, 2017- 4 violations
  • June 18, 2018- 5 violations
  • September 10, 2018- 11 violations
  • December 2018- 5 violations
  • May 22, 2019- 8 violations
  • August 20, 2019- NO violations

 

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility lacking current MCOPH CFSM.(Repeat violation) GM stated he is enrolled to take certified food handling class/exam. Facility has 30 business days to provide proof of enrollment in approved course

  • Lacking label on chemical spray bottle in prep area

  • Several fly like insects observed by bar area. Facility has 10 business days to provide current pest control report to MCOPH.

  • Personal jacket stored on food storage shelf

  • Tongs stored on oven door handle at cooks line

  • Aluminum foil lining drips tray to stove

  • Final rinse dial on high temperature dish machine not reaching 180 F. Facility used 160 F back up temperature strip. Facility must fax over repair invoice of final rinse dial to MCOPH. Fax to 610-278-5167

  • Dust build up on several vents throughout facility

*Editor’s note: Keep in mind to be, “Out of Compliance” a restaurant would have at least one violation designated a “Food borne Illness Risk Factor.”
