The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted a follow-up retail food inspection on 5/26/2020 to an inspection on 5/15/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Clarion Inn Belle Vernon was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Gallon of milk in server area cooler with Sell By date of March 12. Discard. REPEAT VIOLATION (5-19-20)
  • Bar handwash sink is not set up with soap, towels and a reminder sign. REPEAT VIOLATION (5-19-20)
  • One container of dressing in server cooler contains visible black mold-like substance. Onions in bag in dry storage are leaking brown substance onto floor. REPEAT VIOLATION (5-19-20)
  • Packets of Spic n Span and bottle of disinfectant stored next to and above food items in storage area. REPEAT VIOLATION (5-19-20)
  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection. REPEAT VIOLATION (5-19-20)
  • Food facility has a reminder statement on the menu for foods that are / or could be served raw or undercooked to the consumer; however, does not clearly disclose which foods (steaks, all burgers), the reminder statement applies to. REPEAT VIOLATION (8-1-18, 7-11-19, 5-19-20)
  • Slicer, a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue (hunk of pepperoni) and was not clean to sight and touch. REPEAT VIOLATION (5-19-20)
  • Soap dispenser not operating at prep handwash sink. REPEAT VIOLATION (5-19-20)
