The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 6/25/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Blue Sage Vegetarian Grille was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

The high temperature dishwasher is not working properly. The wash and rinse temperature states it is at 118°F. The wash must be at 150°F or above and the final rinse must be at 180°F or above. A thermolabel was sent through and did not turn black. Do not use the dishwasher utilize the 3 compartment sink to wash, rinse and sanitize wares.

Facility had no high temperature test strips on site. Provide high temperature test strips.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/25/2020

Observed cell phone sitting on a cutting board in the kitchen. Do not store personal items on food contact surfaced. Clean and sanitize the unit. CFSM/Owner removed the cell phone.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
Cut tomatoes, sauces, cooked onions, cheese and other time temperature control for safety foods were sitting out and were not at a safe temperature. Time/temperature control for safety (TCS) food must be cold held at or below 41ºF. These were discarded.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.
Ready-to-eat, time/temperature control for safety (TCS) foods located in the cold storage units are not date marked to show when they were opened or prepared. These foods must be sold, used by or discarded within 7 days of opening or preparation. Date mark foods.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/25/2020
Observed several mouse droppings in the front area where the bar 3 compartment sink is located. Remove all mouse droppings and contact exterminator to treat issue.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/26/2020
Observed several foods in the walk in cooler upstairs to be uncovered and stored on the floor. Ensure all food products are stored off the floor and covered. There were foods observed in the small refrigerator near the cookline that were uncovered. Cover foods.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/25/2020
Food workers are not wearing hair restraints as required.
Employees shall wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings or nets, that are effectively designed and worn to keep their hair from contacting exposed food; clean equipment, utensils and linens; and unwrapped single-service and single-use articles.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/25/2020
The one prep top refrigerator is not working. CFSM has all products on ice. Repair to ensure the refrigerator is working properly and can hold time temperature control for safety foods at 41°F or below.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/26/2020
