The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/18/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the BP was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 10 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Observed consumer self-service display, hot dogs on roller without sneeze guards or other effective protection. The front panel / door of the plastic cover is missing.
  • Refrigerated ready to eat items in the kitchen prep. Cooler, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours are not being date marked.
  • The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Food utensils, scoop in the kitchen area observed stored in a metal container of stagnate water which is not maintained at 135°F.
  • Observed lettuce in the kitchen prep. Cooler covered with a wet cloth towel. Violation previously cited.
  • Prepackaged sandwiches in the display cooler, egg salad, turkey, ham, tuna are not labeled properly with the ingredient statement and distributed by statement. Items removed from sale. Violation previously cited.
  • Walk in cooler has an ambient air temperature at approximately 48*F instead of below 41*F. Cooler will not be used for TCS food until it is below 41*F.
  • Sour cream and milk in the walk in cooler have an internal temp. at 49*F. and 48*F. resp. instead of at/below 41*F. Agent calibrated thermometer. Employee verified temp. with their thermometer. Items in cooler greater than 4 hours were discarded.
  • A black hose is attached to the spigot of the utility sink without a back flow preventer.
  • Observed several live flies in the kitchen area.
