The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 4/6/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Subway in Walmart was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- A container of lettuce in the 2-door kitchen cooler had a puddle of water on it. Water appears to be leaking from the vent in the top of the cooler, is puddling on tuppers within and the bottom of the unit. Leak needs to be eliminated, unit and equipment within needs to be kept dry.
- Floors under equipment in the prep room need swept to remove food spillage and trash
- Food employees observed with facial hair, beard nets not available.
- Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodent and insect activity. Fruit flies observed throughout facility. Droppings observed in the dry storage cabinet by the service counter. Equipment in cabinet needs removed and cabinet cleaned. All pests must be removed.
