The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/3/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations California Pizza Kitchen was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 10 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.
California Pizza Kitchen has now failed to be, “In compliance” with five consecutive inspections by MCOPH:
- Mar 15, 2018- routine inspection cites 7 violations
- Aug 14, 2018 routine inspection found 7 violations
- Jan 30, 2019 following a complaint from the public 4 violations were cited
- Jul 9, 2019- 8 violations cited during a routine inspection
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

Dented cans observed on storage shelf, voluntarily removed from shelf.

Food uncovered inside walk in cooler.

Splash guard of ice machine unclean. Clean and sanitize according to owner’s manual.

Food items observed with an internal temperature greater that 41F. Facility discard Ranch dressing and Mayo stored in bain marie.

Boxes of single service food contact items stored on floor.

Single use containers used as scoops in bulk dry good containers.

Lacking irreversible registering temperature indicator for high temperature sanitizing dish machine.

Leak at faucet of 3 compartment sink.

Faucet handle loose on right-hand sink in Men’s restroom.

Vents unclean above servers side station.
