The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/2/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Quikway in Carlisle was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge does not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Observed food residue on the chicken rack.
  • Accumulation of static dust in the hood unit. (risk of falling into food or food contact surfaces)
  • Observed two bags of chips that appeared to be chewed into by rodents.
  • Dried food residue on the potato slicer.
  • Observed dried food residue on the deli slicer and the handheld slicer.
  • Observed 10 to 15 rodent-like droppings in the shelving around the chips.
