The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 5/4/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Great Wall Chinese Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found.

The Great Wall Chinese Restaurant has failed to be in compliance for its third straight regular yearly inspection:

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge does not demonstrate adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
  • Observed medicines stored about the cook line in the kitchen.
  • Observed wet wiping cloths in throughout the kitchen, not being stored in sanitizer solution.
  • Hand slicer and knives with dried food residue.
  • Food Employee did not follow proper handwashing procedure. Hand wash sink was not functional at time of inspection.
  • Observed in-use knives stored between table edges, an area not easily cleanable & sanitized.
  • Scoops in the bulk ingredient bins do not have handles.
  • Hand wash sink was taken apart and being used as a cutting board. No soap and paper towels available.
