Caspian Hill in Lafayette Hill bumbles inspection; 11 violations, Mouse like droppings under shelf in dry storage and dead mouse on floor between refrigeration units

Caspian Grille

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/7/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Caspian Grille was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • 2 times repeat violation- MCOPH Certified Food Sanitation Manager Certificate not posted at time of inspection.

  • Hand wash sink blocked with utensils at deli area.

  • Raw lamb/poultry stored over RTE food items in refrigeration.

  • Mouse like droppings under shelf in dry storage and dead mouse like on floor between refrigeration units. Clean and sanitize all areas. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Air space observed at bottom of back screen door. (allows access to rodents)

  • Food handler lacking hair/beard restraint

  • Single use silverware with food contact surfaces not facing the same direction.

  • Dust build up between refrigeration units.

  • Shelving under tables unclean.

  • Damaged floor tiles in front of refrigeration unit and near basement entrance.

  • Dust build up on air vent cover in dining area.
