The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/26/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations China House was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 14 violations were found.
The inspection occurred as a result of a complaint alleging COVID-19 violations:
“The MCOPH received a complaint about the employees along the cooks line and at the front counter were not wearing their COVID-19 face mask/shield. EHS’s Observation at time of visit: Two employees were working, 1-female and 1-male, neither employee were wearing a facemask/shield at the time. Once I introduced myself and expressed my concerns both employees immediately domed a face mask.”
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

Lacking single service towels for the kitchen hand sink.

Table-top can opener blade unclean

Proper date marking lacking on prepared food items in secondary containers and/or packaging.3x repeat

Facility thawing shrimp in still water.

Common name label lacking on secondary dry goods containers. Common name label lacking on squeeze bottles at cooks line.

Front door propped open upon arrival-2x repeat

Several grocery and plastic bags in the food prep sink

Food stored in colanders in walk-in cooler.

Frozen foods stored in plastic grocery bags in several reach down freezers.

Numerous containers of prepared foods stored in refrigeration lacking covers/lids

Gray water sitting in the mop bucket in the back area of the kitchen

Ladies restroom hand sink is pulling away from the wall
-
Dust build-up on the interior walls above the entrance to the kitchen.

Mop head is sitting in the strainer of the mop bucket. Inverted or hang to dry.
