The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/18/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Circle K in Pottstown was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 13 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility operating without a MCOPH license. Facility has 5 business days to submit license application and appropriate fee. Failure to do so may incur fines and other legal action for operating without a current license.

  • Inspection request signage not posted at time of inspection. Emailed signage at time of inspection.

  • Facility lacking a current MCOPH CFSM. Facility has 10 business days to submit reciprocity application or submit proof of registration in an approved food safety course.

  • Facility lacks a written procedure for managing a fecal or vomiting incident. Emailed at time of inspection.

  • Lacking single service towels for hand sink – Corrected

  • Facility lacking a probe thermometer.

  • Containers/boxes of food stored on floor in walk-in cooler – Corrected

  • Mop observed stored in spent water in mop bucket not hanging inverted dry.

  • Lacking chlorine test strips for sanitizer

  • Food like debris in reach-in coolers and ice build-up in vertical freezer.

  • Ceiling tiles stained/missing in back storage area.

  • Food like debris on floors in walk-in cooler.
