State College Borough conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/13/2020 following receipt of a complaint. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Gumby’s Pizza in State College was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • The Person in Charge failed to notify the Department of an imminent health hazard and cease operations.
  • Food prep table was used as a bed for tattooing, contamination from blood could have sprayed onto food contact surfaces, or the dough mixer.
  • The person in charge allowed violations of the (Pennsylvania)  Food Code to exist

The following comments were added to the inspector’s report:

46.1144 – The retail food facility operator failed to notify the Department of an imminent health hazard, gross unsanitary condition of conducting tattooing of a food employee on a dough food prep table during times of operation, and did not discontinue operations.

Report has been reviewed with the person in charge and all violations will be corrected within by 3/16/2020, unless a correct-by-date is specifically documented within the violation.

You will be billed for this inspection at $150.00 All additional inspections until the annual cycle inspection has been completed will be billed at $200.00.

You will be receiving citations for the violations present at this inspection which you will receive via us mail from the District Magistrate.
