The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/19/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Concord Country Club was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found.

The Concord Country Club has failed to pass each regular inspection since March 2018 as well as an inspection following a complaint received by the Department

  • 3/1/2018- 13 violations- regular inspection- out of compliance
  • 4/19/2018- passed the follow-up inspection with 5 lower level violations cited.
  • 1/31/2019- 9 violations- regular inspection- out of compliance
  • 2/13/2019- 2 violations- passed the follow-up inspection with 2 lower level violations
  • 7/23/2019- 13 violations- complaint inspection- 13 violations
  • 8/1/2019- 9 violations- passed follow-up inspection with 7 lower level violations

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Food facility is reduced oxygen packaging meatballs, with potential for Clostridium botulinum / Listeria monocytogenes, without documenting or monitoring a secondary food safety barrier. No HACCP plan submitted to PDA for approval first.
  • Observed about fifteen small insects in bars and warewashing areas, flying in the air or resting on the walls or ceilings.
  • One small hand wash sink in main kitchen, hot water spigot is not working or suck. Loose from wall small hand wash sink in basement kitchen.
  • Trash receptacle / waste handling unit outside lids are open, this could attract pests.
  • Back receiving doors have gaps, creating easy access to pests.
  • Tile floor areas including the walk-in-boxes and bars, the grout was impacted with old dark food residues and dirt and places under the equipment and in the corners.
  • Food facility does not have available sanitizer test strips or test kit to determine appropriate sanitizer concentration for the basement warewashing machine.
  • Outside waste handling units and storage area, behind the units found a large pile of dead tree leaves and some loose trash.
  • One cutting board in basement kitchen, had dark knife marks., Food storage racks inside walk-in-cooler were impacted with old dried food residues/stains. Kitchen equipment door handles are impacted with old hard food residues. Basement kitchen exhaust hood filters are impacted with dark old congealing grease. Area under the work tables, found old food residues.
  • Trash receptacles used inside the food facility exterior surfaces are impacted with dark grease.
  • Stained ceiling tiles in both kitchens
