Conshohocken’s Marias Pizza & Pasta fumbles inspection with 18 violations; Mouse like droppings observed on floor behind large floor mixer

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/6/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Marias Pizza & Pasta was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 18 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Employee beverage lacking lid stored on cutting board at prep unit.

  • Lacking single use paper towels at hand wash sink in back kitchen.

  • Lacking hand wash soap at hand wash sink in back kitchen.

  • Utensils stored in hand wash sink in front and back area.

  • Cutting boards with discoloration and grooves.

  • TCS food items held in prep unit at front area observed with internal temperature greater than 41 degrees F. Facility moved to proper refrigeration.

  • Proper date marking lacking on prepared food items in secondary containers and/or packaging.

  • Prep unit in front area observed with internal temperature greater than 41 degrees F. Facility may not use equipment for holding TCS foods until repaired and given written permission from MCOPH. Send completion work order stating internal temperature to MCOPH.

  • Mouse like droppings observed on floor behind large floor mixer. Clean and sanitize area. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Air space at bottom of back door.

  • Personal items stored on food container at cook line.

  • Scoops lacking handle stored in bulk dry goods.

  • Single use take out containers at cook line with food contact surface exposed.

  • Damaged door gasket on 2 door reach in.

  • Door gaskets at prep units, back splash of floor mixer, and under flat top griddle unclean.

  • Ice build up in reach down freezers.

  • Cardboard lining the floor at ware wash sink area.

  • 5 times repeat violation-Damaged floor tiles in front 3 compartment sink.
