The Montgomery County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 1/27/21. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Cosimo’s Pizza was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 12 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Food operational license not posted in public view.

  • Facility lacking sign stating “The most recent health inspection report is available on request”. A Sign must be posted conspicuously for the public. EHS emailed sign during inspection.

  • Certified Food Sanitation Manager Certificate not posted conspicuously for the public.

  • Sanitizer bucket and rag stored in front counter hand sink basin.

  • Sanitizer bucket at front counter tested with no chlorine sanitizer concentration. The Facility mixed a 100ppm solution during inspection.

  • Time temperature log for pizzas and pastas held without temperature control not completed.

  • 3 door pizza prep refrigerator recorded with ambient temperature of 46F and foods inside recorded at 47F. Facility moved all foods to walk-in refrigerator. Facility must immediately stop using the unit. The Facility may not use the unit until serviced by a licensed professional, AND the unit is operating at 41F or below, AND written permission is granted by MCOPH. Send service report to the email provided. Failure to comply or await permission before using unit may lead to legal action.

  • (8 times repeat violation)Rodent like droppings observed on floor in front counter areas along perimeter of counter and around equipment. Facility must immediately clean and sanitize area. Facility must be treated by professional pest control service. Fax service report to MCOPH with in 10 business days. Send service report to email provided. Failure to correct and maintain repeat violations could lead to legal action. EHS will follow-up 10 business days to determine need for further action.

  • Food handlers lacking hair restraints.

  • Ice accumulation on condensers inside of pizza prep refrigerator.

  • Ice accumulation on interior of 1 door freezer in back area.

  • Left end basin of 3 compartment sink obstructed by metal shelving rack. All basins of sink must be made accessible at all times.
