County: Rodents at King of Prussia Mall’s Qu Japan and Tsaocca Restaurant fouls inspection with 20 violations

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 18, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Qu Japan and Tsaocca Restaurant at Kin of Prussia Mall was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 19 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Current MCOPH food license and MCOPH CFSM certificate not posted in public view
  • Metal scrub brush stored in hand sink by cooks line area.
  • Lacking asterisks on menu items that pertain to consumer advisory on menu. (2 times repeat violation)
  • Rodent like droppings observed on shelf at end of front counter and on wheels of dry storage shelves in back of facility(2 times repeat violation) Facility was just serviced 11/15/19. Facility must fax over copy of current pest control report conducted after today date of 11/18/19. Clean and sanitize all affected areas.
  • Pack door propped open at time of inspection (allows access to insects and rodents)
  • Personal jacket stored on top of case of beverages
  • Discarded food items being stored out back in hallway of facility. Facility voluntarily removed and discarded in dumpster at time of inspection
  • Aloe vera stored in open original aluminum can inside prep unit behind front counter
  • Dressing squeeze bottle stored in public serving ice bin.
  • Food items in cola reach in cooler being stored in colanders.
  • Utensil stored in containers with stagnant water by rice cookers. (2 times repeat violation)
  • Cups used to obtain public serving ice in ice bin behind front counter and to obtain dry good products in secondary food grade bins
  • Boxes of single service lids and containers stored on floor behind front counter and back of facility by back door
  • Interior bottom of cold holding units throughout unclean
  • Exterior bins of movable white secondary food grade bins unclean
  • Exterior door of cola reach in cooler by ware wash area unclean
  • Wheels around dry storage shelves in back unclean
  • Dust build up on exterior vent of ice machine
  • Grease build up on shelves below grill at cooks line
  • Floors unclean underneath fryer area at cooks line. (2 times repeat violation)
