CVS Norristown fouls inspection; Liquid baby formula with sell-by date of 7/1/20, Fly-like insects around mop sink drain, 8 violations

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 7/31/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the CVS Pharmacy was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • CFSM exemption not posted at time of inspection. Facility has 30 days to apply for MCOPH CFSM exemption certificate.
  • Hand washing sign lacking at hand sink in men’s restroom.
  • Two containers of Nutramigen liquid baby formula with sell-by date of 7/1/20. Facility voluntarily discarded.
  • Fly-like insects around mop sink drain. Facility has 10 days to provide MCOPH proof of professional pest control. Email pest control report to jcoyle@montcopa.org
  • Racks in dairy retail cooler and juice retail cooler unclean.
  • Covered waste receptacle lacking in unisex customer restroom and women’s employee restroom.
  • Dust build-up on ceiling tiles surrounding ceiling vents in retail area.
  • Vent covers unclean in retail area.
