The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on January 6, 2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the US Hotel and Tavern was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Food employee not wearing a proper and effective beard restraint.
- Observed one dead mouse in bait station located near hand wash sink. Firm shall remove dead pests from bait stations.
- Observed food splattering and build-up on the equipment behind the steam table along the prep line.
- Charred build-up on the back splash of the ten burner stove
- Flooring behind cooking equipment observed to have a grease build-up
- Observed 25 old mouse droppings below hand wash sink located near the walk-in cooler, Also, 20 old mouse droppings noted in a closet located behind the main office. Both areas swept during this inspection.
