The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/6/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations El Limon was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 9 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Hand wash sink blocked by a container.
  • Facility reheating food at steam table.
  • TCS food items cooked on 8/5/20 observed in walk in refrigerator with internal temperature greater than 41 degrees F. Facility voluntarily discarded two containers of pork and two containers of rice.*
  • TCS Food items held in steam table with internal temperature less then 135 degrees F. Facility reheated within time and temperature requirements.*
  • Fly-like insects observed in kitchen area. Clean and sanitize area. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH
  • Food container stored on top of trash can.
  • Scoops lacking handle stored in bulk dry goods.
  • Foil lining top of chip warmer.
  • Improper air gap at food prep sink.

*The temperature danger zone is food temperatures between 41 and 135 degrees Fahrenheit and the most rapid bacteria growth occurs between 70 and 125 degrees Fahrenheit. The longer food sits in this temperature range, the greater the risk that bacteria will begin to grow on food. These violations are considered, "Food Borne Illness Risk Factor" violations.
