The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 9/5/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Ella’s Place was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 10 violations were found.
This inspection marks the third straight regular inspection Ella’s Place was found by authorities to be, “Out of Compliance:”
The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:
- Observed visible evidence, of mill beetles in flour and powder sugar in the prep area.
- Can opener and potato cutter a food contact surface, was observed to have food residue and was not clean to sight and touch.
- Observed pipe under three-compartment sink disconnected from wall allowing water to spill on the floor.
- Plumbing system not maintained in good repair – observed handwashing sink leaking at the elbow in the dish area.
- Observed waste water for the three-compartment sink draining onto the floor to the dishwashers drain.
- Observed corner of wall by hand sink unattached to the wall making this not smooth and easily cleanable and in poor disrepair.
- Refrigerated ready to eat, time/temperature control for safety food prepared in the food facility and held for more than 24 hours, located in the walk-in cooler, is not being date marked.
- The Person in Charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this non-compliant inspection.
- Loose or broken door hinges observed on reach-in cooler on the cook-line.
- Lunch meats and cheese was held at 45-57 °F, on the cook-line, rather than 41°F or below as required.
- Observed heavy accumulation of grease and food debris on behind under all equipment and floor under equipment.
