The Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Food Safety and Laboratory Services conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on November 13, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Dollar General in Eldred was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection one single violation was cited.
The inspector noted in the report, “Food facility inspection indicates evidence of rodent activity. Droppings observed on boxes and several shelves in the back corner of the stock room by the mop sink. One dead mouse observed in sticky trap behind door entering stock room. All rodents and signs of rodents must be eliminated. Terminex serviced the store 11-8, but noted no activity. The stock room needs organized (sic), excessive clutter makes pest control difficult.”
The Eldred store failed its annual inspection on October 7, 2019 as well as a follow-up inspection on October 22, 2019.
