The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 6/16/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations The Choice was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

This most recent inspection marks the fifth straight inspection the restaurant failed to be found in compliance by the Health Department according to reporting by The Philadelphia Inquirer:

  • Jan 9, 2018 7 violations with 4 food borne illness risk factor violations.
  • Aug 23, 2018- 2 violations and 2 
  • Mar 6, 2019- 10 violations with 4 
  • Aug 8, 2019- 9 violations with 3 

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Expired license posted

  • Facility is lacking a written vomit/fecal incident procedure at time of inspection

  • Splash guard of ice machine unclean

  • Fly-like insects observed. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Back door propped open (allows access for vermin)
