Fly-like insects observed near restrooms of facility at Qdoba Mexican Grill Bala Cynwyd, 11 violations says Health Department

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/18/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Bala Cynwyd Qdoba Mexican Grill was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility has a MCOPH CFSM certificate not posted in public view

  • Interior splash guard of ice machine unclean

  • Fly-like insects observed near restrooms of facility. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Food handler lacking hair/beard restraint

  • Wet wiping cloths not stored in a sanitizing solution

  • Ice scoop for ice machine stored in direct contact with ice

  • Aluminum foil lining on cook line equipment(must remove)

  • Absorbent cloth lining surface underneath cutting board.

  • Dust build-up in following areas: walk-in refrigerator Air king fan, ceiling vents going into kitchen, women public restroom ceiling vent(intake)

  • Racks in walk-in refrigerator unclean(on order to replace)

  • Filters above cook line equipment unclean
