Fox Hunt Tavern in Bensalem fumbles inspection; black mold-like substance in ice machine- food contact surface

The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 6/18/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Fox Hunt Tavern was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 3 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Upon arrival, the hand sink in the back pizza prep room was filled with items. These items were removed fromt he unit as required. Keep all hand sinks accessible for use at all times.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.  
  • The inside of the ice chute in the ice maker is not clean. Remove black mold-like substance and thoroughly clean and sanitize the interior of this unit. Ice in unit must be discarded.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/19/2020  
  • Improper procedures are being implemented for using time as the public health control for pizzas that are left out at room temperature. The pizzas are not identified with either the time that they were removed from temperature as a control or their discard time (which according to the food handler is 2 hours from when they are removed from temperature as a control at this facility). Log the times for each pizza accordingly.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/18/2020  
  • There are air gaps under both back doors to the outside. Install new door sweeps to eliminate the air gaps  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/19/2020  
  • Drink cups are being used for dispensing bulk foods (flour). Remove the drink cup and provide and use dispensing utensils with handles for dispensing the bulk foods, and store the handles out of direct contact with the foods.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 06/18/2020
