Fruit fly like insects observed at bar area; Miller’s Ale House fumbles inspection with 7 violations

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2-29/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Miller’s Ale House was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Facility lacking current MCOPH CFSM. Facility has until March 19, 2020 to obtain.

  • Dish machine final rinse temperature not reaching 180 degrees F. Facility may not use equipment for final sanitation until repaired and given written permission from MCOPH. Send completion work order stating final rinse temperature to MCOPH.

  • Fruit fly like insects observed at bar area. Clean and sanitize area. Facility has 10 business days to provide proof of next professional pest control treatment to MCOPH

  • Food handler lacking beard restraint.

  • Foil lining grill and back splash at cook line.

  • Ice build up in reach down freezer.

  • Dust build up on restroom air vents.
