The Allegheny County Health Department’s Food Safety Program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/10/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Stored knife on magnetic strip is soiled.
  • Left Traulsen two-door standing refrigerator has food debris on and beneath shelves.
  • No test strips are available for high temperature dish machine.
  • One of two handwash sinks at bar area is inaccessible for use – employee personal belongings are stored inside.
  • Flies are present near back area of kitchen and around mop sink area, near the door to the dumpster. Move pest strips to non-food contact surfaces.
  • “Hotshots” fruit fly strips present on ceiling over sink, dish areas, and broom rack. Remove pest strips.
  • Milk crates are used for storage in the walk-in freezer
