The Chester County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/28/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Giordano’s Bar & Grill was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 8 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Seafood items were not covered in the walk cooler. Ensure all stored products are covered.
  • Sports Bar: Beer bottle stored in ice used for drinks. You cannot store bottles or other items in ice used for human consumption.
  • Pizza bain marie was 47F. Meats and cheeses in the unit were either discarded or moved to a unit holding proper temp depending on product temperature. Lower unit temp to 40F or less. Do not store meat, cheese or cut tomatoes in this unit until it maintains proper temp. Place a thermometer inside the unit to monitor temp daily.
  • Sanitizer was not being used at the 3 bay sink when dishes were being washed. All equipment and dishware must be washed with soap and water, rinsed with water, placed in sanitizer/water mixture, then air dried. Ensure all dishwashing staff use sanitizer and that they check the sanitizer concentration with the correct test strips.
  • Main Bar: 3 bay faucet leaks at the base below handles. Repair or replace faucet.
  • The following areas must be cleaned: 1. Hood filters (on lunch line) 2. Dinner line bain marie – interior including doors 3. Back of deep fryers 4. Mop room (near dishwasher) – mop sink, floor 5. Floor/wall juncture in dishwasher area 6. Top of dishwasher 7. Sports Bar: Floor, floor drains and glass chiller racks
  • Walls in the following areas have deteriorated must be resurfaced: 1. Wall behind Raw Meat prep table 2. Walls around Utility Room door in kitchen Resurface these areas to be durable, cleanable and non-porous.
  • Bars: Pourers (pouring spouts placed in liquor bottles) are not being cleaned. Several were found to be heavily soiled. These must be cleaned routinely and always when a bottle is emptied.
  • Replace light bulb in upstairs mop room.
