The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on December 13, 2019. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Giuseppe’s Pizza & Family Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 13 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • (3 times repeat violation)-Consumed hot beverage cup left on food prep table in kitchen.
  • Using preparation dates on bulk sauce and no dates on soups in walk-in refrigerator.
  • No labeling on soap stored in squeeze bottle at hand sink.
  • (3 times repeat violation)-Thawing vacuum packaged frozen fish in original vacuum packaged condition with labeling stating remove from vacuum package for thawing; 4 packages of thawed out sword fish portions in cold prep refrigerator, discarded during the inspection. Failure to comply will lead to further enforcement action and/or issuance of citation.
  • (5 times repeat violation)-Minor mice droppings on the floor and shelves at bulk soda/beer storage and canned foods storage. Fax or e-mail pest control service report.
  • Storing pizza shell in direct contact with black colored trash bag in 1-door reach-in refrigerator near pizza prep station.
  • Food handlers with no beard restraints.
  • Clean knives and tongs stored in Quaternary sanitizer solution during use.
  • Wooden box for coffee grinds with deterioration of surface with chipping woods at coffee station.
  • (3 times repeat violation)-No Quaternary sanitizer test strips. Failure to comply will lead to further enforcement action and/or issuance of citation.
  • (3 times repeat violation)-Mold like substance and residue build-up at two soda gun holster at bar and coffee station.
  • Mold like substance and debris build-up on walk-in refrigerator storage shelves and fan guard of walk-in refrigerator.
  • No cover for the waste container in kitchen employee toilet room.
