The Chester County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/12/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Goose Creek Grill and Pizzeria was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 14 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Several food storage containers observed cracked/broken. Discard.
  • Provide test strips for the chlorine sanitizer at the mechanical dish machine.
  • The ice scoop holder and inside flap of the ice machine observed in unclean condition. These were cleaned on site. Maintain in clean condition.
  • Fly strips observed hanging above food prep and food contact equipment. All methods of pest control must be done in a manner that prevents contamination. Remove immediately.
  • Observed in-use knives stored between table edges or between tables, an area not easily cleanable & sanitized. These were removed on site. Store in area that does not risk contamination.
  • Containers of ice cream observed stored on the floor of the walk-in freezer. Relocate immediately. All foods must be stored at least 6″ off of the floor.
  • Burgers, eggs any style, etc served raw or under-cooked to the customer’s request; however, a written consumer advisory (on the menu, table tent, or placard) is not provided to the consumer. Review with person in charge regarding the placement done at this time. Comply immediately.
  • Cove base is missing under the prep table near the deli slicer. Replace.
  • Clean the following: a. Perimeter of the floor/wall juncture throughout b. Wall behind the mechanical dish machine c. Floor under the fryers
  • Several unlabeled spray bottles of clear, blue and yellow liquids observed. These must be labeled immediately as to their contents and stored in area away from food and food contact surfaces. The bottles were labeled on-site.
  • Many temperature controlled for safety foods (TCS) prepared in the facility and stored in the bain maries not date marked. All TCS foods prepared in the facility (including slicing, marinating, etc) must be properly date marked and discarded within seven days of preparation. Also, a container of remoulade dressing and sesame dressing (both prepared on site) date marked 1/3 and 1/28 respectively. These were discarded on site.
  • Remove cardboard lining the shelves under the deli slicer. Do not use cardboard to line shelving as it is absorbent and not easily cleanable.
  • Replace the following: a. Gasket on the lid of the ice machine b. Shelving above the hand washing sink in the ware washing room
  • An accumulation of oil observed on floor behind the fryers. If there is a leak, repair the leak. Maintain this area in clean condition with daily, thorough cleaning.
  • Thoroughly clean the following and maintain in clean condition: a. Inside top edge of bain marie on the cook line b. fan guards of the walk-in refrigerator c. Inside compartment of the fryer on the cook line d. Covers behind the bain maries on the cook line
  • Repair the following leaks: a. Faucet of the three compartment sink (several leaks and remove plastic wrapped around lines) b. Under the mechanical dish machine
