The Chester County Health Department conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/5/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations China King was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 5 violations were found.

The inspector made the following statement in the report:

Report received that the shopping center in which the facility is located lost power yesterday due to a tropical storm and the center remains without electric.

Inspection conducted today found facility attempting to operate without electric. Bain marie unit observed at 75 F; breaded, cooked chicken in a large colander observed on the counter at 86 F. The walk-in refrigerator had foods including eggs, meats and seafood at 50-55 F. The walk-in freezer at 32 F.

Facility ordered to close immediately. Facility is not permitted to reopen until an inspection is conducted by this Department. You must contact this Department once electric has been restored and all units are operating properly.

All potentially hazardous foods in the walk-in refrigerator, bain marie and on the counter must be discarded immediately and forward the list of foods to this Department. Foods include meats, seafood, cheeses, sauces labeled keep refrigerated, eggs, etc.

All foods in the walk-in freezer must be either relocated to your other food facility immediately, or temperature monitored hourly and unit kept below 41 F. If unit goes >41 F all foods in the unit must be discarded.

Findings were reviewed over the telephone with Jimmy Zheng, CFM and operator and report emailed to Mr. Zheng.

Should the facility be found operating without permission from this Department, Non-Traffic Citations will be filed in District Court.
