Health Department hits Walmart on Trooper Road in Norristown area with 11 violations

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/2/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Walmart on Trooper Road was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 11 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • Foot petal on hand sink in bakery area by ware wash sink broken. facility had hot water turned off at initial time of inspection. work repair order was placed at time of inspection

  • Lacking hand wash sign in back storage area restrooms that employees use

  • Numerous dented cans stored on retail shelves-all products were voluntarily removed from shelves at time of inspection

  • Box of single service containers in bakery prep area stored on floor

  • Quaternary sanitizer level below 200-400 ppm at bakery ware wash sink

  • Fan guards in meat walk in cooler unclean. (Repeat violation)

  • Retail shelf with pancake mix unclean

  • Wall tile damaged by deli case coolers

  • Grease build up on floor underneath fryers (Repeat violation)

  • Dust build up on several ceiling tiles in deli prep area (creates risk of dust falling onto food or food contact surfaces)

  • Dust build up on ceiling grates in deli prep area
