The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Office of Public Health (MCOPH) conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 3/4/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the E’s Irish Pub was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 4 violations were found and include one or more violations determined to be food borne illness risk factors.

The ice machine was found to be unclean marking the ninth inspection the Health Department cited E’s Irish Pub determining the violation to be a “Food Borne Risk Factor.”*

  • Sep 5, 2019- Ice machine had mold buildup. Detail clean and sanitize at regular interval.Can opener and slicer has food debris buildup. Detail clean and maintain. Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/05/2019
  • Mar 22, 2019- Ice machine has mold buildup. Detail clean, sanitize and, maintain. New Violation. To be Corrected By: 03/22/2019

  • Sep 20, 2016- The ice machine has mold like build and is not being properly cleaned and sanitized. All wares and food contact surfaces of equipment and utensils must be cleaned and sanitized after each use or at required time intervals. New Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/23/2016
  • Mar 30, 2016- Re-inspection- Ice machine has mold buildup. Clean, sanitize and maintain. Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 04/06/2016
  • Sep 17, 2015- Inside of ice machine is unclean (mold). Discard ice, clean and sanitize interior of ice machine. New Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/18/2015
  • Oct 1, 2013- Compliance # (1) There is mold in the inside of the ice machine. Empty ice machine, clean and sanitize. Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 10/02/2013
  • Sep 25, 2013- Inside of ice machine not clean. Discard ice and clean. Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/26/2013
  • Mar 26, 2013- Re-inspection- Inside of ice machine not clean. Clean and maintain. Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 03/27/2013
  • Sep 19, 2012- Inside of ice machine is growing mold. This ice must be discarded. Clean and sanitize ice machine prior to using. New Violation. To be Corrected By: 09/20/2012
  • Mar 28, 2012-Reinspection- There is mold growing in the ice machine. This unit was taken out of service. Use bagged ice until this unit is defrosted, cleaned and sanitized. New Violation. To be Corrected By: 03/29/2012

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • There is no food safety manager certified by this Department (CFSM) on duty as required. A CFSM must be on duty at all times the facility is open and/or food is being prepared. The facility has one (1) Bucks County CFSM; however, they were not available during the inspection. The facility also has three (3) employees who have completed a food safety manager course. Have these employees submit applications to become Bucks County CFSMs.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 03/05/2020  
  • The interior of the ice machine and ice chute are unclean. Remove and discard all ice then clean and sanitize all interior surfaces and maintain.  Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 03/05/2020  
  • Observed a wood post on the prep line to have exposed wood and exposed and damaged drywall. Cover the wood post with a material that is smooth, easily cleanable, and non-porous.  Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 03/11/2020 
  • Observed the interior of the fryer and the floors below the fryer to be unclean. Conduct a thorough cleaning of these areas and maintain.  Repeat Violation. To be Corrected By: 03/06/2020

*Foodborne Illness Risk Factors”  are food establishments’ practices or procedures that scientists say play a direct role in transmitting germs. These are given higher priority during inspections. Repeat problems are taken more seriously; those that are fixed through public health interventions during the visit, less so. Specific violations or combinations of violations may trigger reinspections, which are common.
