The Bucks County Department of Health conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 2/27/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations the Italian Peoples Bakery was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 6 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • There is no food safety manager certified by this Department (CFSM) on duty as required. A CFSM must be on duty at all times the facility is open and/or food is being prepared. A completed application(SA-71)for CFSM must be submitted to the Department.
    Food Manager on site does have renewed and current certification. Bucks County CFSM application to be provided.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 03/06/2020  
  • Raw, animal-derived Time/Temperature Control for Safety (TCS) products (eggs) were found stored directly over ready to eat foods (cheese, lettuce) in the deli display case.
    Raw, animal-derived TCS products must be stored under ready to eat foods.
    Manager relocated eggs to lowest shelf during inspection.  New Violation.  
  • Spray bottle of unknown liquid at the 3-compartment sink is not labeled.
    Containers used for storing poisonous or toxic materials such as cleaners and sanitizers taken from bulk supplies shall be clearly and individually identified with the common name of the material.
    Per manager, bottle contains household bleach and was labeled accordingly during inspection.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation.  
  • Dead roaches were found in glue boxes under the electrical panel and below the 3-compartment sink.
    Discard boxes with roaches and replace with new, dated boxes.
    Food worker discarded affected boxes during inspection.
    Contact facility’s exterminator for additional monitoring and/or treatment.  Corrected On-Site.  New Violation. 
  • Facility does not have testing strips to measure sanitizing solution concentration for Chlorine-based sanitizer. Facility does have test strips to measure the concentration of quaternary ammonium-based solution but does not maintain any of this sanitizer on-site.  New Violation. To be Corrected By: 02/27/2020
