The Allegheny County Health Department’s Food Safety Program conducted an unannounced retail food inspection on 8/10/2020. As a result of that inspection, and due to the severity of the specific violations Armstrong’s Restaurant was cited as being, “Out of Compliance” with Pennsylvania’s food safety regulations. During this inspection a total of 7 violations were found.

The inspector made the following comments in support of the violations found during the inspection:

  • One can found dented around the seam. Operator states they will submit it for credit.
  • Chemical dish machine is not sanitizing. Operator states that he called to have it repaired tomorrow morning. Facility will temporarily set up the three bowl sink to wash, rinse, and sanitize all utensils.
  • Trap under three bowl sink is leaking water into a pan placed there to catch the water.
  • Lack of handwash signs near hand sinks.
  • Numerous fruit flies around the dishwashing area.
  • 4 ounce plastic cup used as a scoop is sitting in the feta cheese in the bottom of the right preparation cooler across from the cook line.
  • Cutting boards along the preparation coolers near the cookline have deep dark grooves.
